Rumi. so timeless.

THE GUEST HOUSE

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

THIS Sunday! Come one come all!

The Roundhouse Picnic in the Park has been rescheduled! Yippie!!

Its THIS Sunday August 15.
Loads of fun stuff down at David Lam Park by the water in Yaletown (Davie St @ Pacific Blvd).

Soccer, food, live music, face painting and FREE YOGA with me! (you need not bring anything. mats provided)!

It was loads of fun last year and promises to be the same again this year! And don't forget that the movie Back to the Future begins at dusk so grab a blanket, a flashlight, some snacks and enjoy!

Yoga with me is at 1230 & again at 200pm. If you have been wanting to try out yoga for the first time come on down... If you just feel like geting some stretches in outside by the water come on down. Or if you want to stop by and say hello or introduce yourself that would be great too because I am all about meeting new people.
Come down and have fun and enjoy a fun day at the park :)

Art

Had to share this. This song has been going through my head since I woke up this morning. I love this. I love this girl (although I don't really know very much about her). Her name is Tanya Davis and her little songs and videos really strike a chord in me.

I posted another video of hers a few posts back called... "Alone".

Maybe now that I am posting this I will finally get it out of my head :)
I'm sure my artist and musician friends can relate.
I'm sure we all can.

We're all the artists of our own lives after all

This little book is a gem.

I was standing in the check-out line (with a bunch of stuff I didn't really need) Embarrassing but true. I do it very rarely as I do not like to shop and never have. But for some reason the other day with the rain, I got it in my head that I needed to prepare for winter and do it asap. So some new rain-boots and rain-gear was needed, as well as a few other items I know I didn't really need.
As I was standing there waiting in a huge line up I spied this little paperback book.I opened it up and immediately saw so many things I did not know. I thought I was in the "know" with a lot of this stuff but I guess I'm not. Some of these tips I am surprised I have never heard before (or had the common sense to figure out on my own)!

As time allows I'll post some.

There is always so much to learn with any topic I suppose, and none more important than our glorious planet. If we wreck the earth where shall we go?

My partner and I have made countless lifestyle changes over the years as I am sure most of us have, but there is always more we can do. Super painless changes that will not only save our earth and precious resources...
but changes that you you barely notice that can save us money.

If you see this little book in the bargain bin pick it up! It cost me 99 cents.
You can give it to your child to read (it's a very easy read) although I am sure that kids today could all write books on the topic!

At lease I hope so.
I've gotta fly for now but I look forward to posting little tidbits from this woman's book. Her name is Joanna Yarrow and she resides in the UK.

A Herb Walk

I thought I'd share this video because I find it sweet and very informative.
Todd Caldecott is a Medical Herbalist and Ayurvedic Practitioner with a practice here in Vancouver. He also has an amazing website chock full of information to help keep you and your loved ones happy healthy. His website is here

As much as the rain gets to me sometimes it is pretty amazing living in a rainforest where it is just so lush, and green, and fragrant, all year long.
Even in the dead of winter it is green green green....

We can't really complain having countless forests and the ocean for a backyard. Literally! I mean, who really even needs a backyard living here?

Anyways, enjoy this little video and check out Todds site.

But remember that medicinal herbs are drugs and should be treated that way. if you are expecting or breastfeeding always make sure that you check with your healthcare provider/midwife/herbalist/caregiver etc.

Have you noticed the effects of your yoga practice spilling into the other areas of your life?
