Pelvic floor issues for men? Yup. you betcha.

Just last evening I looked in the faces of about 20 women and told them that even if they didn't have babies/have a vaginal birth/wound up having a c-section/were a man etc. our pelvic floors can become compromised no matter who we are for various reasons. I looked at them point blank (the previous day I told even more...25-30 people easily) that even my own pelvic floor is changing and I haven't even ever had a baby. I certainly wouldn't call it compromised in any sense of the word thankfully, but at 47 it's just a little different. And if you live long enough you'll notice too that things just change a little bit. Its not bad and difficult to explain. The bottom line (pun intended haha) we ALL need to take care of our pelvic floors, thats all. Those muscles are holding our internal organs in there, babies in there, women use those muscles to push baby out if they deliver vaginally, and men too need to keep a strong and healthy pelvic floor to support the organs and core and spine just as we do because everything is connected. The latest research seems to speak of really strengthening the adductors and to keeping that lumbar curve while sitting. Saw this video this morning and thought I'd share. See ya at yoga! Registration is on. Namaste.

The time of the autumn equinox is here

Technically it is still summer in these parts until tomorrow but I'd like to wish you all a really glorious fall. The leaves here in Vancouver are only just beginning to change, but the smell of fall in the air is undeniable. In fall and winter yin energy is at it's highest. The sun is rising later now and nightfall is coming sooner than expected. Our days and nights are closer in length, and south of the equator spring is just beginning. Whatever fall is conjuring up for you I hope it's lovely, inspiring, healthy, safe and very happy.

Do you have a laptop?

I recently bought one. It's really more of a notebook and very similar to what's in the picture here. Small, lightweight and very inexpensive..

A macbook wasn't in my budget, although of course I would have loved one of those! But considering what I do on here my little Acer thingy is just fine for me, and we do have a lovely Mac desktop at home so we can still indulge while at home. I'm still not particularly computer saavy though (as you may notice by looking at my blog haha)

I was a late bloomer.
(I've even been known to call my ipod my walkman..haha..and thats no lie)!

Anyways, what I wanted to share here is that I recently found out that using a laptop uses 90% less energy then a desktop computer and I found that amazing. That is such a HUGE difference and definitely worth sharing. Knowing that, I plan on using my little laptop more, and my desktop a little less, as it sure can't hurt! Every little bit helps this beautiful world we live in .

Change is inevitable and constant. It's all good.

Ahhh...the old Mt.Pleasant CC.
I rode my bike past there yesterday, and that extremely well used community centre is now a pile of rubble.
I couldn't help but reminisce about all the classes I taught there or the many mom & baby picnic's I held on those grounds in the past half dozen years. Many good times.
