There WILL be Yoga over the holidays at Mount Pleasant!!

We will run run our Wednesday Daytime Hatha and Prenatal Yoga classes during our fall/winter break for 3 weeks. *Classes are drop in only ( and a measly $12)

-Daytime Hatha is from-1230-200pm -December 22, Jan 5 and Jan 12

(usual time and room)

-Prenatal Yoga is from 630-745pm and there will classes December 22, Jan 5 and Jan 12 as well (same room, same time and everything)

So no need to let your practice slide over the holidays!

All new sessions officially begin at Mount Pleasant January 17 & 19, and classes at our beloved Roundhouse will all start up one week earlier (the week of January 11), and registration is on for January for ALL classes at both places so get on it! There is a mat with your name written all over it. Casual, delicious, non threatening yoga for everyone, in both Yaletown and Mt.Pleasant!

There isn't a better way I know of to start your new year! I say bring it on! It is going to be a fabulous♥

Gettin' scared yet?

Wooo hoo! It's almost Halloween and I for one can't wait!

I just finished teaching a yoga class and afterwards we all discussed our spooky plans! I know where I'll be, and I am hoping to see YOU in Yaletown down at the Roundhouse!

Did you know that you can trick or treat through Yaletown for free? It's courtesy of the Yaletown Business Improvement Association. You can join performers and musicians as they parade their way through Yaletown on Sunday Oct 31, and thats from 3:30-5:30. Talk about some howlin' good times :)

Pick up a trick or treat route map at the Roundhouse front desk on the day of... and away you go!

After that come and see us at the Roundhouse for some ghoulish good times from 4:30-7:30!

Admission is just $5 bucks and it promises to be so very fun! You can dance to some Halloween favourites in our "Creepy Hollow". There will be batty crafts, ghoulish activities and so much more.

The people have spoken! Again!

The Roundhouse Arts and Recreation Centre and Mt.Pleasant Community Centre have taken the number 1 and number 2 spots for the "Best Community Centre's in Vancouver" in the Georgia Straight Best of Vancouver 2010 readers choice awards. No surprise to me whatsoever! We are blessed to have many fabulous Community Centre's in this beautiful city of ours (and more sprouting up all the time), but I certainly have a soft spot for the winners. Both of them. I love the staff, the instructors, the programs and of course all the beautiful participants, friends and yoga students I have met over the years. Even if you don't live in either neighborhood, I cannot recommend enough taking a trip to check out these fabulous places. Both are very cool and different from one another.

The Roundhouse is steeped in history and is absolutely stunning. It has the Engine 374 Pavilion and is brimming with cultural events, theatre, dance...it truly is spectacular and worth checking out.

Mt.Pleasant is brand spankin' new. We moved from the old location less than a year ago now and the place is very impressive...It's huge and has a gym, a climbing wall, a fitness centre, outdoor space, a cafe...and it also has a VPL library on site and a child development centre upstairs.

The Roundhouse also picked up the "Best Yoga Downtown" award through the Vancouver Courier "Stars of Vancouver 2010" readers choice awards.

And they both have yoga with me!!

There is something for everyone at both places whether yoga tickles your fancy or not...so come check us out!!!

Just want to give a shout out the dads who have been coming to baby yoga lately

It takes a real man to come to baby and me yoga and I've been pleased to see a few lately at both Mt.Pleasant and The Roundhouse. It's yoga, and dad's need yoga too. There have been a few regulars over the years but not too many. Just wanted to make a little post to tell you how cool you are dads. I love my momma's but I love my baby daddies too! Feel free. I know that you will always be few and far between at baby yoga but know that you are more than welcome anytime.

Over the years I have had parents who have occasionally traded off with their partners as well. That is A OK. As long as there is room everyone is welcome. I have had grandparents, nannies, friends and aunties at baby yoga, and yes you are all welcome in my classes. There is simply not enough out there for the lovely men in our lives baby program-wise in my opinion. My baby and me programs are just that. Baby & me. Not strictly mom & baby and they never were. Just wanted to throw it out there. Namaste xo

** Mount Pleasant Update* Baby & Me Yoga is full but there is still space to drop in!

**There is Just one spot left in Wednesday evening's Prenatal yoga. This class WILL have a waiting list come Wednesday so if you were thinking of registering I would get on it asap.

All other classes at both Mount Pleasant and The Roundhouse are still accepting registrations! Looking forward to seeing my old friends and meeting many other new ones this week! Yay!

THIS Sunday! Come one come all!

The Roundhouse Picnic in the Park has been rescheduled! Yippie!!

Its THIS Sunday August 15.

Loads of fun stuff down at David Lam Park by the water in Yaletown (Davie St @ Pacific Blvd).

Soccer, food, live music, face painting and FREE YOGA with me! (you need not bring anything. mats provided)!

It was loads of fun last year and promises to be the same again this year! And don't forget that the movie Back to the Future begins at dusk so grab a blanket, a flashlight, some snacks and enjoy!

Yoga with me is at 1230 & again at 200pm. If you have been wanting to try out yoga for the first time come on down... If you just feel like geting some stretches in outside by the water come on down. Or if you want to stop by and say hello or introduce yourself that would be great too because I am all about meeting new people.

Come down and have fun and enjoy a fun day at the park :)

If you have been thinking of revisiting yoga or even if you have never attended a class, these classes are for you. Perfect for beginners or for those who like more of a challenge as well.

* And I might add that these classes are affordable. I do my best to keep my classes as absolutely reasonable as I can get away with. Classes work out to be about $10 a class if you register, and if paying drop-in it's $12.

It's the 6th annual Roundhouse Community picnic in the park!!!

(it's outdoor movie night as well, and the flick begins at dusk)!

This years movie is Back to the Future. For more info on the movie click here

The picnic is from 12-4 rain or shine at David Lam Park on the waterfront!

There will be music, games, face-painting, food, a mothers tent to feed/change babies/cool off in... and all sorts of other fun stuff!

Including free yoga with me again this year!

What's happening class wise...

Just a little heads up (heads down if you are expecting haha)!

Of course all classes are a go and doing fantastically well!

Just need to let you know two things:

#1-Mt.Pleasant's Prenatal Yoga wound up having a bit of a waiting list when I arrived this evening so I thought you should know. I freed up a couple of spaces which quickly got filled.

If I can, I will open up a couple more spots, but I will not over-fill this class.

Luckily it's a big beautiful room!

For we all know the nature of Prenatal Yoga...

One by one the mom's drop out...hee hee! (for the most exciting reason of all- they have baby and move on to Baby & Me Yoga!!).

*There is still room in my two other Prenatal Yoga classes at the Roundhouse (Tues & Thursday evenings from 545pm-715pm).

The Roundhouse is a 4 minute Canada Line trip from the Broadway/City hall stop (Broadway @ Cambie St.) to The Roundhouse stop which brings you right there!

#2- Wednesday July 21, Daytime Yoga (again Mt.Pleasant ) there will be a photographer in our class. If you have a problem with this we can figure something out. They will only be there for the first half hour (from 12:30-1:00pm).

I'm taking a 6 week hiatus from my roundhouse baby & me yoga class.

Well I did the inevidable. I cancelled my first class in 6 years.

(only temporarily though!! )

*This class will resume Thursday July 8 at 12:30pm, and registration is on.

Its Baby & Me Yoga at the Roundhouse. There were a number of reasons and it was a difficult decision in many ways but attendance was down and honestly...

I don't know any Vancouverites who don't want to be outside as much as humanly possible right now! And I sure am one of them.

I really needed to carve out a little extra time in my life to get caught up on some charity projects I have committed to, and something had to give, so this is the class.

I had a little cry with the mom's and babes I love so much last Thursday and they all completely understand. And besides everyone is busy right now, not only me! And with Stanley park and the seawall for a backyard... Truly there is nowhere more beautiful then Vancouver in the Springtime, let's face it.

If you would like to attend a Baby & Me Yoga class with me in the next 6 weeks (and of course beyond) my Mt.Pleasant CC (Main & Kingsway) is still going strong.

That class is Monday mornings from 10:45am-12:00pm

And for those of you in Yaletown or downtown...

I'll see you in 6 weeks!

How do you feel about the HST?

Yeah I thought so...me too!

I don't know about you but I know that I don't want... my YOGA, massage therapy, airline tickets, naturopathy, concert tickets, non prescription meds, movies, bus fares, spa services, vitamins, dietary supplements, chinese medicine, movies, taxi's, home maintenance, parking, school supplies, membership fees (including the gym), hockey tickets, hair cuts, golf fees increasing in price by another 7% in tax if I can help it.

If you enjoy any of those things (which we all do) then add up what you would spend on those items/services per year and multiply it by 7% to see how much more you (and I) will be spending with the HST.

Anyways..I ran into these TRULY adorable folks directly in front of The Roundhouse this morning and if you live in Yaletown and would like to sign the Stop the HST petition these two are who you want to see!

I had a few laughs, received some words of wisdom and learned a heck of a lot! He's a ballroom dancer and has not had a sniffle in over 6 years! (he even showed me his ancient head rubbing/ ear pulling technique!) And he'll show you too! haha!

And did I mention he is 80?

And the lady is lovely. Just so incredibly lovely, sweet, vivacious, and as smart as a whip!

They really made my day ♥ And they can make yours too!

These two will be in front of my favourite place in the world.. The Roundhouse each day from 900am-11:30am.

The Roundhouse is located at the corner of Davie St @Pacific Blvd.

A quick little heads up..

Just on my way out the door and thought I'd give you a heads up that many of my Roundhouse sessions are ending this week (they will all be starting up again next week of course, as all classes are ongoing)

To ensure a spot this time around I would recommend registering sooner rather than later! (for the Tues and Thurs evenings Mixed Levels classes in particular)

I may soon have to cap the participant level for these classes, so if you have been dropping in you may want to register this time around, just to make sure you get a spot!

The Roundhouse is back! The Roundhouse is back!

This is going to be the shortest blog post in the world because I am running late here, but I feel like screaming it from the rooftops I love this place so much! lol!

I will be forever grateful to Lilli Q' Cafe and Playhouse as well for allowing me to hold my Roundhouse classes there during the Olympic Hiatus and I can't recommend enough checking out Lilli'Q. (1268 Pacific Blvd-right next door to the roundhouse!)

It is a lovely cafe and play spot for babies and tot's & momma's and families.

And the owner is the momma of a 1 year old herself!

Anyways, gotta fly! headed there now. Yay!

Registration is on right now by the way for both the Roundhouse and Mt.Pleasant!
