With these uncertain times and all that is going on we must remember all the pure goodness around us.

And Louis Armstrong said it best:

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.I see skies of blue and clouds of white

The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I love my community.

Today I am off to a garden party/potluck at my community garden. Its where my fellow gardeners (neighbors/people from the community/folks from all walks of life) get caught up, clean up, work together planting, pulling weeds, etc... We just basically work together doing whatever projects that need to be done. And we visit, get caught up with each other, and make new connections. Its really nice. Even in the pouring rain its nice.

It just just got me thinking about community this morning and the sheer importance of it, especially in this day and age. Whatever you choose to get involved in not only benefits you but it benefits the whole community. Children of all ages can get involved in community/volunteer projects as well, and they can learn a lot of great skills while they're at it. And its so fun and rewarding.

Heres a great quote by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. on community;
"What should young people do with their lives today? many things obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured."

It sure is a beautiful world we live in. Its important to make connections and be there for each other. Namaste.

Sometimes somebody just brightens your day for no reason...

Sometimes somebody just honour's you "just because" when you are least expecting it. Making others feel special is such a special gift. I feel I am so very blessed every day of my life for the lovely friends/colleagues/ students and peers who I am blessed to share my life with. You are all my teachers. Thanks so much Amanda. You really made my day.

Like roadtrips?

My partner Silas and I went on a wonderful "too beautiful for words" adventure last weekend called The Spring Thaw. 60 cars. All different people from different walks of life coming together for an amazing adventure. If you like roadtrips, wind in your hair, good people from all over, super scenery and twistie roads...this trip is something that is so fun and exciting that none of us ever want it to end. This year we went from Squamish to 108 Mile House to Sunpeaks to Hope. Can't wait til next year!

This poster says it all and it's almost time!

Please stop by to learn all about an organization that has truly captured my heart in every sense of the word. You can browse the gorgeous jewelry and textiles made by the women of Shanti's income generating groups, and it's all incredibly inexpensive and one of a kind. There will be bands, prizes... and even a silent auction.

This event could not be any more casual. It's at my favourite local hang out Our Town Cafe, so if you've been there you know what I'm sayin'. Super casual good times ;)
I love the place!

Just bring yourself and say hello! It should be good times all around.

Really hope to see you there!

Even if you have other plans for later in the evening, please stop by! (p.s. Our Town is licensed for beer & wine as well should you wish to partake...)

Well if it isn't the 1 year Anniversary of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics!

Here are some pics I took one year ago while out wandering around. They aren't the greatest, but they capture some of what was happening out on our streets
